Juventud Upsets Liverpool in Dramatic Match

In a defining match held at Parque Artigas, Juventud de Las Piedras defeated Liverpool 1-0, who until then was the unbeaten leader, thus postponing the resolution of the Uruguayan Apertura Tournament until the last date. The only goal of the match was scored by Bruno Larregui, who headed in a precise cross from Jonathan Urretaviscaya in the 40th minute of the first half, surpassing goalkeeper Sebastián Lentinelly.

With this result, Liverpool remains in first position with 29 points, but now with only a one-point lead over Nacional, who won 4-0 against Cerro on Saturday. Meanwhile, Juventud reached 27 points and still has mathematical possibilities to be crowned champion. The final matchday will be crucial: Liverpool will face Cerro Largo, Nacional will play against Defensor Sporting at Gran Parque Central, and Juventud will visit Progreso.

The team coached by Diego Monarriz lined up Sebastián Sosa; Federico Barrandeguy, Valentín Gauthier, Maizon Rodríguez, Emmanuel Mas; Iván Rossi, Rodrigo Chagas, Ramiro Peralta, Jonathan Urretaviscaya; Bruno Larregui and Agustín Rodríguez. On the other hand, Liverpool, under the direction of Joaquín Papa, fielded Sebastián Lentinelly; Facundo Perdomo, Martín Rea, Nicolás Cabral, Enzo Castillo; Hugo Quintana, Martín Rabuñal, Gonzalo Nápoli; Kevin Amaro, Abel Hernández and Nicolás Vallejo.

The referee of the match was Gustavo Tejera, assisted by Héctor Bergalo and Marcos Rosamen. The definition of the 2025 Apertura Tournament promises excitement until the end, with three teams contesting the title.
